Losing The Cutting Edge

June 17, 2012 by

Our Father’s Day service. Pastor Gale Miller delivered a message about “Losing the Cutting Edge“, from Romans chapter 1, verses 16-32. Have you lost your cutting edge? Related in terms of five senses: touch, taste, sight, smell and hearing.

The NCBC choir starts the service with “I Am Redeemed”, “Right on Time”, “He’ll Hold My Hand” and “I Have A Heavenly Father.” Special music by our very own Stephens Sisters. Following music is a special presentation to fathers.

Sermon starts at 16:51

  • Romans 1:16-32
  • Proverbs 27:17
  • Ecclesiastes 10:10
  • Matthew 13:15
  • Hebrews 5:11

Sense of Touch – Romans 1:21, Proverbs 1:21-23, 26-27

Romans 1:21 – the 7 stages of the Gentile world.

Boiling the frog: drop a frog into boiling water and he’ll jump out. Put a frog in cool water and slowly raise the temperature until the water boils and you’ll cook him without it jumping out. This is how Satan works. A slow fade.

Chewing tobacco, cigarettes, alcohol – all of these things people usually don’t like at first but you get used to the taste and then crave it.

But the Bible tells us to taste and see that the Lord is good. Psalms 34:7-8

Sense of Taste – Romans 1:22, Psalms 34:7-8

Sense of Sight – Romans 1:23, 1 Corinthians 13:12

Sense of Smell – Romans 1:24-25, Psalms 51:7, 10

Sense of Hearing – Romans 1:28, 29-32, Revelation 22:17 (the last invitation)

Bible verse of the day

Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
